Welcome to Emerging Health Leaders

a network developed for new health professionals, by new health professionals

Five years ago, a group of professionals working in health gathered in Ottawa to discuss their career goals and the existing and desired resources to support them. They dreamed big and, under the leadership of co-founders Emily Gruenwoldt and Adrienne Hagen, Emerging Health Leaders (EHL) was born. Since that time, our networking and professional development group has flourished, partnering with national health organizations and expanding to multiple cities across Canada.

More than ever, health care in Canada needs emerging leaders. As we struggle with constrained resources and the impending mass retirement of the baby-boom generation, the unique talents and ideas of emerging leaders will be crucial to the stewardship of our treasured health system in the years to come. Our immediate priorities include the expansion of our virtual presence by making use of the Web 2.0 tools familiar to our members, further growing our membership and expanding our reach across the country, and introducing a new governance structure in order to best represent the views of our members.

EHL is a resource for professionals at various stages of their careers in health (regardless of age) and with a variety of career aspirations, for employers seeking access to fresh talent, and for senior leaders and others in the field who recognize the need to engage emerging leaders. We invite you to learn more about our organization by exploring our website, signing up for one of the local newsletters and attending EHL events. Share your thoughts, ideas and questions by contacting us at the email address below. We look forward to hearing from you!
